Weekend Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Adult Male We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for an adult male with developmental disabilities. This is a weekend position, with 10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, supporting community participation, implementing the individual's ISP goals, ensuring health and safety, and promoting independence while providing person-centered care. • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
• Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient behavior, and reporting any changes or concerns promptly.
• Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained.
• Support clients during outings and community activities to promote social engagement and independence.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, incident reports, and progress notes in accordance with agency policies.
• Follow individualized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to meet each client’s unique needs.
• Ensure a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in residents’ living spaces and common areas.
• Respond effectively to emergencies with CPR or first aid when necessary, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.
• Collaborate with team members, families, and healthcare providers to deliver consistent, high-quality support aligned with best practices in assisted living, nursing home care, or home & community care settings.

Skills

• Proven experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder.
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Demonstrated patience and compassion when working with individuals requiring specialized care or behavioral support.
• Experience in medication administration, care planning, and documentation within long-term or home health settings is highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends or overnight shifts as needed to provide consistent support.
